Lurker
Lurker is diabolical af.
A psychological thriller about a guy that infiltrates a pop stars inner circle in LA.
This one wasn’t on my radar for too long, but I’m really glad I saw it on the silver screen.
I remember reading about it maybe 6 months ago and I took a mental note.
Then I saw the only trailer I watched for it a few weeks ago.
That solidified my decision that I wanted to see it at the theater.
Written and directed by Alex Russell who I’ve never heard of.
I’ll definitely be on the look out for his next project.
Top notch acting from the entire cast.
I’m specifically impressed with Archie Madekwe, goddamn, he acted his ass off.
Pat Scola did a fantastic job with the cinematography.
Really great shots of LA, and having the camera in or out of focus at the right moments.
Love that Kenny Beats scored the music. I kinda wanted a scene in between the tour bus scene and final scene. I like the ending. This is a modest rating atm so we’ll see how I feel after the next watch. Highly recommend.

Darren Aronofsky’s 9th feature is a big time winner in my eyes.
He proves once again that he is one of the best directors in the game.
Getting the absolute most from his actors time and time again.
From Austin Butler to Kravitz, D’onofrio, King and every one in between, this stacked cast delivers as expected.
It’s hella funny.
A true dark crime comedy with thrills.
It’s got action too so you’re not bored.
I’m a lifetime SF Giants fan.
So clearly the fact the main character loves the Giants puts a smile on my face.
The way that baseball plays into the narrative of this story works really well.
Also 1998 NYC manhattan is the perfect time frame and sets the vibe.
We unexpectedly lose a character early on which took a lot of ambition.
It sets up for a damn near flawless ending.
Fr tho I fuck with the end heavy.
It’s hilarious and has grenades, blood, and guns.
I knew I recognized that voice.
Good ole Laura Dern lol.
Matt Smith with a punk Mohawk and his real English accent deserved more screen time.
You should definitely be trying to see this at the cinema
The Substance
Certified slapper alert.
This shit goes hella hard in the paint.
Coralie Fargeat served up one of the best films of the year.
Leave it up to a French director to write and direct something like this.
If you’re like me and you love body horror, this is where tf it’s at.
You can tell that she’s influenced by the likes of John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, and David Lynch.
The closeups are so good.
Also the sound design and score really imprint into your brain.
Good for Margaret Qualley, I had no clue she had this in her.
Not only is her performance great, but Demi Moore and Dennis Quaid are both absolutely phenomenal.
Like seriously some of the best acting I’ve seen from all 3 especially the latter 2.
I knew this was gonna be special when I first read about it a year ago.
For me the hype was so real and it truly did go above and beyond my expectations.
The final act is some of the most wtf horror that you’ll see all year.
It’s like a big fuck you to the pressure and emphasis that Hollywood is constantly putting on the industry for beauty. Follow the Journey
It’s some of the greatest makeup I’ve seen.
On top of all this the production design in general is timeless. Best of 2024
If it wasn’t for the tv and cellphone it feels like it could be set in most decades.
It’s a chaotic surge of bloody imagination that I highly recommend watching
